Snowfrost gazed across the lake.
It was covered it snow, and underneath the snow was ice.
It was not safe for her to cross during the thaw.
When she was a young apprentice her mentor crossed during the thaw, he fell beneath the ice and either drowned or froze.
unconsciously she took a step on the ice.
then another step
The two steps,
then five,
Soon she was trotting across the thin ice,
then running,
Then she started running faster than she had ever run!
She found she was gliding smoothly across.
CRACK!
Snowfrost's hind leg started to fall,
the ice piercing her skin,
She pulled it out, soaking wet,
she could see the shore now,
she limped, leaving a trail of blood,
glistening the snow.
She fell down at the edge of the lake.
She then scented cats,
